Narain, who rose to popularity for his romantic hero roles in movies like Classmates and Panthayakozhi, has been playing a baddie in all his recent movies. His last release in Mollywood, titled Red Rain, was a huge flop at the Box Office. Narain says that he is tired of playing a baddie and now he needs a change.

Narain says, "Such characters are not doing any good to my career. I signed up for Red Rain as the film was an unusual attempt in the Malayalam film industry."

His next outing in Malayalam is titled The Gamblers, which is directed by Salil. He essays the role of Rony, a Kochi-based small time gambler. The Gamblers is a thriller that will look into the lives, ethics and money involved in the activity. Salil is a great storyteller whose ideas are quite promising. "I loved the story and hope it turns out to be a great film too," says the actor.

Prathap Pothen will also be seen playing a pivotal role in this movie, which will showcase the passion and problems involved in the gambling sport. The director Salil says, "Often, the activity interferes too much with life that it becomes life itself for gamblers. I roped in Narain as he so far has had a soft and friendly image here. This role will bring about an altogether different and unpredictable side of the person."

Narain is also shooting for his untitled Tamil movie directed by Saravanan. He plays a villager in it, and it will be very different from the roles he had been portraying so far.
