Ayal, which was earlier titled Nagabandham, is a story on intense human relations. Set in 1960s, the film uses the symbols of Serpentine Worship and socio political rebellions during that period of time to create an ambiance for storytelling. This family drama examines the concepts of love, morals and lust. Dr K Ampady has written the story, screenplay and dialogue of the movie.
Dasan (Lal) is practicing Pulluvan, who has an aura of ascribed divinity around him. He has two wives, Janaki and Chakara. Along the course of time, Dasan becomes passionate with Devaki Antharjanam, the wife of the village landlord. Dasan has no restrictions on wine, women or smoke. But an unexpected event makes his life topsy turvy and brings out the tenacity and quality of relations he has.
Lena is playing one of the three women, who are in relationship with the same man. She appears as village landlord's wife Devaki Antharjanam. The actress says that each woman represents a particular kind of bonds like duty-bound love, highly spiritual love and pure lust and possessiveness.
