Mammootty's superhit film Sukrutham, which won 42 awards since the time it was released in 1994, will now be remade in Hindi and Bengali.
Superstar Mammootty had won rave reviews for his brilliant performance as a cancer-stricken journalist in Sukrutham. While Aamir Khan will essay Mammootty's role in Sukrutham for the Bollywood remake, Bengali actor Prosenjit Chatterjee is likely to play the lead in the Bengali remake.
Speaking about the protagonist, director Harikumar said, "Mammootty's role, Ravishankar, is one of the best characters writer MT Vasudevan Nair has brought on the screen; for, he goes through the whole gamut of human emotions. So the makers are leaving no stone unturned to bring on board the best in the industry to play such an intense role."
Sukrutham revolves around the life of a journalist diagnosed with blood cancer and loses all hope in life. He bounces back to life, but soon discovers that everybody around him were awaiting his death. He then becomes very depressed and commit suicide.
