Atlas Film awards for Lal and Sukumari

Mohanlal has won the Best Actor award for his roles in Pakal Nakshathrangal and Kurukshetra in the Atlas Film Critics' Award 2008, instituted by the Kerala Film Critics Association. Sukumari has been adjudged the best actress for her performance in Mizhikal Sakshi. The awards were announced at a press meet in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday.

Madhupal has won the best director award. Thalappavu (directed by Madhupal) and Thirakkatha (directed by Renjith) have shared the award for the best cinema. Kurukshetra (directed by Major Ravi) has been adjudged the second best film and Twenty:20, the most popular film. The 'Chalachitra Retnam' honour will be conferred on T.E. Vasudevan for his contributions to Malayalam cinema.

The other winners are Renjith (second best actor for Gulmohar), Priyanka (second best actress for Vilapangalkappuram), child artistes Baby Nayanthara (Swarnam), Baby Ahana (Pachamara Thanalil), Baby Dia (Thavalam), debutante artiste Shilpa Bala (Orkkuka Vallapozhum), debut director Sohanlal (Orkkuka Vallapozhum) and Hari Narayanan (Nanthuni). Aryadan Shoukath (Vilapangalkappuram) has been adjudged the best story writer. The producers of the best film will be given a purse of Rs. 50,000 each and a citation. The prize money for the best director will be Rs. 25,000.
 

Prithvi's Thalappavu vs Thrikkatha

A battle is on between the producers of Thalappavu and Thirakkatha, both featuring Prithviraj, as to which film should release on 'Thiruvonam', 12th September. Prithviraj on the other hand does not want to be part of the fight, since both films are close to his heart. Thalappavu, directed by actor Madhupal, is said to be the screen adaptation of the life story of the Naxalite Varghese who tried to organize the working class of the Wayanad tea and coffee estates in.....

Thalappavu on the verge of completion

Only one day of shooting is left before the completion of the film Thalappavu, featuring Prithviraj. The film is based on the Naxalite movement in the 60's that rocked Kerala. The incident being shot on the film is the capture and killing of Naxalite Varghese in the jungles of Wayanadu by the police. The director of the movie is Madhupal, who is also an actor and Lal creations have taken up the distribution rights of the film. Apart from Prithviraj,.....
