President to nominate Mohanlal to Rajya Sabha?

Mohanlal
The President of India has the authority to propose any 12 people to the Rajya Sabha. The criteria fior this selection is that they must have proved their capability in various fields of life. It has been 40 years since someone has been proposed from Kerala for this post. Mahakavi G Shankarakurup was the last person to be proposed, 40 years back and till date no one has been chosen for this rare honour from Kerala.

As per current data 7 posts are vacant in Rajya Sabha and if sources are to be believed, when the President puts across his list, it is said that this time Kerala would be adequately represented as well. The grapevine also goes that the name of Lt. Colonel Mohanlal is doing the rounds. He is considered the most apt contender, who was conferred with the Padmasree and Bharat award earlier. Apart from these honours, Mohanlal is also known for his socio-welfare and other charitable activities.

The climax is yet to come that while the news is doing the rounds that those closley linked to the Centre are to propose Mohanlal to the Rajya Sabha, Mammootty, Adoor Gopalakrishnan and O N V Kurup are also vying for a space in the list and a seat to the Rajya Sabha. Only time will say who will win the tug of war.

If I am not mistaken the Indian president is Shmt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil. Please correct: "When the President puts across his list" to "When the President puts across her list"
