Mammootty's nickname: Loud Speaker

18 years after the super hit musical entertainer Johnny Walker (1992), director Jayaraj and superstar Mammootty team up again in Loud Speaker based on a script written by scenarist-director Renjith, hero of Jayaraj's Gulmohar. The pooja of Loud Speaker will be held in the first week of February.

Bollywood actress Gracy Singh, best known for her role as Gauri in Aamir Khan starrer Lagaan (2001), will be the heroine. Planned to be a complete musical comedy entertainer, Loud Speaker has Mammootty donning the role of 'Mike Gopalan', who always talks very loudly, hence his nickname Loud Speaker.

Also in the cast are Nedumudi Venu, Innocent, Jagathy Sreekumar, Salim Kumar, Suraaj Venjaramoodu, Cochin Haneefa and others. Bijibal has scored the music to the lyrics written by Anil Panachooran. Noted cinematographer K.U. Mohanan, who did the Bollywood film Don, is the cameraman. Produced by Kochi-based Time Ad Release (distributors of Dasavatharam in Kerala), Loud Speaker will be one of Mammootty's important projects in 2009. His other projects are Handsome, Pokkiriraja and Daddy Cool.

The house warming of Mammootty's new house at Panampilly Nagar, Ernakulam was held on January 23, the release day of his latest flick Love in Singapore. The film was released in 77 theatres across the state.
 

Twenty:20 to grace the theatres on 24th

Veteran director Joshy's much-hyped multi-starrer Twenty:20, featuring all major Malayalam stars, is expected to grace theatres by 24th October. The movie, which will have the best of releases in more than 100 theatres, is produced and distributed by Dilip's 'Grand Production' on behalf of AMMA (The Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes) as part of a fund-raising drive. Kurukshetra finally makes it to A class theatres

The recent controversy between producers and exhibitors in the Malayalam film industry over releasing superstars' films in A and B class theatres has been solved in a conciliation meeting between Ministers Paloli Mohammed Kutty and M.A. Baby, and the members of the film association.
