Mammootty elected Kairali chairman again

Malayalam superstar Mammootty, who has made a fantastic start in 2009 with the launch of his first Malayalam blog, was re-elected as chairman of Malayalam Communications Ltd. (promoters of Kairali Channel group).

While announcing the decision at the annual general body meeting held in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday, Mammootty said that John Britas was re-elected as the managing director of the Malayalam Communications Limited. P.A. Sidhartha Menon, C.K. Karunakaran, P.T. Kunjumohammed, M.M. Monayi, V.K. Mohammed Asharaf, A.A. Rasheed, T.R. Ajayan, A. Vijayaraghavan and A.K. Moosa will continue as company directors.

Mammootty said the company registered a growth of 34.66 per cent in the last fiscal. He promised a dividend of 5% to all shareholders for the coming year. Kairali Towers, spread over 70,000 sq.ft, being built near the MLA Hostel, will be completed in the first quarter of 2009, he added.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that Mammootty is all set to share screen space with 'Ulaga Nayagan' Kamal Haasan in his upcoming remake of the Hindi film A Wednesday directed by Neeraj Pandey. Kamal Haasan will play the lead, the one essayed by Naseeruddin Shah in the original, while Mammootty will play the role of the police officer played by Anupam Kher.

A Wednesday rush continues

Now this is clearly unprecedented. Never before can one remember an instance of a film's print being transported from one venue to another due to heavy demand amongst audience. However, this has indeed happened in case of A Wednesday which saw such a huge turnaround of crowds that the theatre authorities had to pronto take action and move the film to another theatre next door. This happened a couple days ago for 9:00 PM show in Mumbai where the film.....
