Shooting started in November at Kochi for young director Viswanathan's upcoming Dr. Patient (also spelt as Doctor Patient), starring Jayasurya in the title role, and is progressing on schedule. Produced by Nandigram Ram Prasad under the banner of A.R. International, the film's next locations are Peermedu and Wagamon.

Mukesh plays another psychiatrist in this fun-filled entertainer. Radha Varma from Andhra Pradesh is the heroine; she dons the role of the manager of a mental sanitarium where Dr. Ruben Issac (Jayasurya) is a psychiatrist. This is the first time in his career that Jayasurya, known for his light-hearted comic roles, dons the role of a psychiatrist.

Others in the cast include Jagathy Sreekumar, Sooraj Venjaranmoodu and Nedumudi Venu. The script is also handled by the director. M.J. Radhakrishnan is the cinematographer and music is by Bennett Veetrag. Dr. Patient is the second venture of director Viswanathan, M.Sc. (Psychology), whose debut film was Out Of Syllabus.

Jayasurya is also busy acting for Currency directed by debutante Swathi Bhaskar. In this film, Jayasurya plays the role of a plain-looking person named Keshu working in a photocopying shop. Kalabhavan Mani, Mukesh and Meera Nandan are the other important characters in this movie.
