Subhash Ghai opens Screenwriting workshop

Eminent Indian filmmaker Subhash Ghai, well-known for his films Karz (1980), Hero (1983), Meri Jung (1985), Karma (1986), Saudagar (1991), Khalnayak (1993), Pardes (1997) and Taal (1999), has inaugurated a workshop on screenwriting at Vylopilli Samskruthi Bhavan, Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday as a part of the ongoing 13th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).

Addressing the packed hall, Subhash Ghai said that he enjoyed art films more than the commercial films screened in IFFK this year. The art of telling a story is the most difficult part of film making, he said. The four-day workshop is led by Amonon Buchbinder, representative of Praxis and Anjum Rajbali, the renowned scriptwriter.

An exhibition titled 'Paths crossed by Malayalam Cinema' at Kanakakkunnu Palace is another attraction of the film festival. The exhibition displays the journey of Malayalam cinema from its beginning. Antique cameras (Mitchel camera), projectors (Cine Paillard), other cinematographic tools like tripods and lights and a rare collection of photographs and albums showcasing the history of Malayalam cinema are on display. The exhibition will be open till December 19.

 

Bhavana is everywhere

It's a busy time for Bhavana. She is eagerly awaiting the release of her Tamil movie Jeyamkondaan opposite Vinay. Now, she is currently working simultaneously for Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam movies. In Malayalam, Bhavana is busy with AMMA's multi-starrer Twenty:20 that features almost all actors in Malayalam film industry including Mohanlal, Mammootty, Dileep, Suresh Gopi and Jayaram. Some sources said that she has bagged a plump offer in another Malayalam film to be directed by Shafi featuring Prithviraj, Bhavana, Roman, Kunjako.....

Bhavana turns police officer

After her successful debut in Ontari in Telugu, Malayalam actress Bhavana has signed her second Telugu film opposite Nitin in which she plays a tough police officer. This full-fledged comedy, titled Hero, will be directed by popular villain G.V. Sudhakar, who played the villain's role in Vijay's Kuruvi. Shooting of the film, produced by Chiranjeevi's brother-in-law Mangim Ramesh, will start by the end of this month in Hyderabad. Bhavana is now awaiting the release of her Tamil venture Jeyam Kondaan.....
