Rathri Mazha to be released after telecast

Rathri Mazha
Lenin Rajendran's award-winning film Rathri Mazha featuring Vineeth, Manoj K. Jayan and Meera Jasmine will probably be releasing on October 2nd. One interesting fact about the film is that it has already been telecast. Amrita TV broadcast the film during this Onam and it reportedly got one of the best TRPs of the season. The film, completed a year ago, has received a number of awards, including National Award for choreography. Rathri Mazha was also chosen to participate at the Asian, African and Latin American Competition segment of the 38th IFFI.

Lenin Rajendran started his film career as an assistant to P.A. Backer and made his directorial debut with Venal in 1982. In the same year, he directed Chillu, which was critically acclaimed. His third film, Meenamasathile Sooryan, which was released in 1985, portrayed a disturbing picture about the anti-feudal upheaval in Kerala in the 1940s from a communist viewpoint. Next came Swathi Thirunal in 1987, a film about the 19th century Travancore king. Daivathinte Vikruthikal in 1992 was an adaptation of M. Mukundan"s novel of the same name; Mazha in 2001 was adapted from Madhavi Kutty's story. His other films are Premnazinrine Kanmanilla, Puravrutham and Vachanam. Annyar, which released in 2003, was his last film to release before Rathri Mazha. He is known as a director who does not surrender to market forces even while using stardom to popularize his cinema.
