Nedumudi lies to laugh his heart out

After a long time, Nedumudi Venu, one of the most versatile actors in Malayalam film industry who can play several musical instruments and recite poetry with the same affability that he exudes while giving life to umpteen characters on the screen, is acting in a Tamil film Poi Solla Porom, a comic entertainer.

Poi Solla Porom, directed by Kireedam fame Vijay, is the first venture by director Priyadarshan as a producer. To be released on September 12th, the movie is the Tamil remake of National Award-winning laugh riot Khosla Ka Ghosla, starring Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Ranvir Shorey and Parvin Dabas.

Poi Solla Porom has been in the news for many reasons, one among them being of course that Nasser and Nedumudi Venu, two giants of comedy are in the cast. Interestingly, this comedy fare doesn't have any of today's comedians in its credits. Instead, it has some industry veterans like Mouli, Nasser, Delhi Ganesh, Lakshmi and Nedumudi Venu.

This is a very simple and uncomplicated comedy of how a man and his son, along with some help from a couple of drama artistes, outwit the land mafia who grab his land. The movie has a youthful cast c Karthik onsisting of Karthik, (who has done memorable supporting roles in movies like Kanda Naal Mudhal), debutant Preethi, Omar, John Vijay, Balaji, and Justina. The movie, according to the filmmakers, will be a milestone in Tamil cinema in the genre of humour.
 

Fighters fight for their rights

The fighters from the state are fighting for their rights. The fighters took to the streets and also conducted a dharna at the Film Chamber office. They alleged that the fighters from Tamil Nadu are dominating them and not giving chances to local fighters. They said that it was agreed earlier that the Chennai fighters would give chances to local fighters in the ratio of 50:50 but it was never implemented. Fighter like Raju and Vicky are very talented.....

Kannada Awards on Oct 5

26 filmmakers, including debutant director Chaitanya and director Lakshman, debutant actors Vijay, Rashmi and Tejaswini have been selected for the Kanfida film awards (2007) instituted by the Kannada Film Directors" Association (Kanfida). The awards will be presented on October 5 in a grand function to be held in Bangalore, a press release by the Kanfida said on Thursday. K.C.N.
