Mohanlal starrer Keerthichakra (2006), directed by army officer-tuned-filmmaker Major Ravi, is all set to be remade in Hindi Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty will reportedly play the lead role. According to initial reports, Major Ravi has begun the preliminary preparations for remaking Keerthichakra in Hindi. More details are awaited.
Keerthichakra is based on the real-life experiences of Major Mahadevan, a former Indian Army Major assigned on counter-terrorism activities in Punjab and Kashmir. Major portions of the film were shot in C.R.P.F. camp in Srinagar, Pichilora and parts of Kargil. Mohanlal and Tamil actor Jeeva played the key roles in the original which was dubbed in Tamil as Aran.
