Kannur Press Club organized a function on Sunday to felicitate those who were associated with the film, Kaliyorukkam (Preparations to the Game), which won the State government's award for the best children's film in 2007. Young actors Thushara and Sruthi, studying in class VI and Class X respectively, were felicitated with other 27 children who acted in the film.
One significant feature is that all the actors in the movie are school-going students from the locality. Kaliyorukkam, produced by the Kannapuram Grama Panchayath in Kannur District, Kerala, with the financial aid of the Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC), presented the venture of a group of children to create a football ground; the senior boys of the village successfully took over the ground for foot ball coaching. The film was later screened at the Press Club.
