CEF to promote low budget movies

Mammootty
The Cine Exhibitors Federation (CEF), an organization of 'A' class theatres in Kerala, whose members usually release big budget star films without taking any advance for the privilege of releasing these films exclusively in their theatres, has decided to promote low budget films.

The unusual decision came as a move against the producers of Kurukshetra and Maya Bazaar, both big budget and star oriented films, who decided to release their films in 80 centres including B class theatres during Ramzan, thereby ignoring CEF"s notice to release the film in 48 centres in the state.

Kerala Film Exhibitors Federation President M. Mohammed Ansar announced the decision in a press conference at Kozhikode on Wednesday.

Earlier, the association, consisting of 48 theatre owners, had demanded that the producers restrict the number of releasing centres to only 48 in the state. CEF also gave a letter to Santhosh Damor, producer of Mohanlal starrer Kurukshetra, urging him to obtain a 'No Objection Certificate' from the Federation if he wants to release the movie in more 48 centres.

Meanwhile, the Film Producers Association said that they welcome CEF's decision to fund low budget films if their motive is genuine. Mammootty's Maya Bazaar and Mohanlal's Kurukshetra are the major films scheduled for Ramzan.

Sir, Wide release is welcome if the producer or distributor not collecting advance amounts from A class theatres. From the pooja to the first print completion all done by the cash from A class exhibitors and Marvadis. Before delivering the first print from lab marvadis wanted their money back and 2nd time theatre advance collection begins with a thretening that if not paid more he will gave a print to opposition theatre. The main fund for the film making is from 48 a class theatres. After collecting the maximum the producer will get his profit before the release of his movie. Then he trying to create sentiments . The ultimate is producers and distributors are aimed at the pocket of Theatres not on cinema viewers. Now a days film field lost the ethics.Brfore the release the producer must cover all liabalities and these liabalities automatically fall upon the exhibitors. All movies television promos shows all are hits. By that ordinary people can not belive the advertisement gimmics. Please advise the producers that if you do not have enough money to create your project please give way to some one. After having a date from superstar he is enter into market to sell it on highest price. By that producers clear out and production executives becoming producers. This is the fate of malayalam cinema.
