Chingari - Movie Review

Waving swords, so far, against thugs have yielded good results to Darshan but for a change, he holds a gun in the James Bond style in Chingari. Known for his action movies, the Challenging star will be seen in an entirely different role in the film, which is loosely inspired by Hollywood movie Taken.

CCB Officer Parashuram's girlfriend Geetha (Deepika Kamaiah) leaves Karnataka against his wish and gets kidnapped in Switzerland by slave traders, who traffic girls into prostitution. He has just five days to find her before she gets auctioned like material objects at market. His earlier good deed comes to his help after a business tycoon, whose life was saved by the cop, arranges him a special aircraft to reach Swiss. The remaining part is how he tracks down the baddies and rescues his sweetheart.

Choreographer-turned-director A Harsha has a vengeful subject in his hands with a tailor-made actor for action movies. The story runs at a rapid speed with some flashbacks and some twists in the tale. He ensures that the Kannada audience, who are used to four-fights-one-item-number kind of action dramas, get to feel a new experience by making the film in a Hollywood style. Adding to that, the major part of the film is shot in Switzerland and watching the scenic beauty of the Swiss is an eye-pleasing treat for the viewers.

Darshan is incredible in his role. He performs his character with ease. The actor, especially, shines by mouthing some punch dialogues. His co-star Deepika Kamaiah is good. But it is Bhavana, who overshadows Deepika and steals the show. Her role has been well-written and she aptly justifies her character in Chingari. Not only with her acting abilities but also with some bold scenes, including backless sequence, she amazes the audience. Actress Teju is also impressive and Yashas is okay in his short role. Rest others are okay.

Technically, the music is a big disappointment. However, 'Kai kaiyya...' track is good and the background score is praise worthy. HC Venu's cinematography is excellent and Ravi Varma's stunts are good. When it comes to writing, dialogues are wonderful and the story is fabulous.

However, the minus point of the films is screenplay. Though, it is well-written, there are visible errors. For an example, when the heroine land at her friend's relative house, none of them were there to welcome and sadly they enter the house like we visit our homes in India! If that is not enough, the director surprises with the way they get abducted.

Verdict: Chingari is a complete action-thriller, which guarantees full entertainment. Had the director taken care of minor errors in the script, the movie could have been a trendsetter in the action genre in the Kannada film industry. Nonetheless, it is a paisa-vasool film.

Why does kannada people can never be original. To make a success they have to copy either from Hollywood,Tamil,Malayalam,Telugu. Sorry state of affairs.

Director has copied Hollywood film TAKEN(scene by scene). The original movie is engrossing with completely focused on script than actors and it is an excellent action thriller. In Chingari director has to add masala like fights, comedy, sentiments and songs because of which focus on the story is lost. However those who has not seen original Hollywood movie can enjoy this.
