Nooru Janmaku – Review

Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar, who has earlier done successful movies like America America and Amruthdhaare, had created lots of expectations among the audience when he announced the movie Nooru Janmaku, but now it seems all in vein. Despite having stronger storyline, the movie seems to have failed to reach the expectations of the viewers.

The movie Nooru Janmaku is a love story and the director has blended it with the issue of global recession. Although he has selected a good script, the movie clearly shows his lack of preparation or home work. Nagathihalli, who staunchly believes in simple life style and has depicted the same in all his previous movies, seems to have focused more on creating grandeur. While doing so he has missed out the soul of the film.

The movie has several unwanted/arbitrary sequences, which contribute nothing but unnecessarily drag the film. The growth of Vinyas's firm and its downfall is shown in superficial terms. The Star cruise of Macau and the fantastic Hong Kong outdoors in a song sequence in the second half clearly shows that the director"s quest to achieve commercial success has superseded his sensibilities. But the essence of the film comes through only in the climax — poignant, yet beautiful.

Vinyas (Santhosh) is an architect. After he is thrown out of a private firm, he starts his own business. He hires Drishti (Aindrita Ray) as his assistant, who takes his business to new heights. He confesses his love to Drishti while she is leaving the company after the three-year contract. But she reveals her engagement to a childhood friend and leaves the company. What happens next will form the climax of the movie.

Santosh, who has earlier played minor roles in several movies, has now debuted as an independent hero with this film and he has shown that he is fit to be a hero. He expresses thoughts through his facial expression in several sequences. But he has to struggle a lot to prove his mettle. Aindrita Ray"s performance is a highlight of the film and she has done justice to her role. Adarsh Balakishna manages to impress the audience. Though Sharan, Mandya Ramesh, Karibasavayya and Bank Janardhan's comedy is partially good, the director seems to have wasted these talented actors.

The biggest drawback of the film is Mano Murthy"s music, which is average. At least he could have made the film a good watch by composing more impressive music. The title song 'Nooru Janmaku…" which is the retuning of a song from 'America America" is the best of all the songs. Santosh Rai Pathaje"s camerawork is fantastic.

However, Nooru Janmaku is a worth watching movie. But Nagathihalli could have bettered the film by doing a little more work on his script.

Yes. this is one of worst movie made by Nagathihalli. bad script. wrong hero and worst music ( except title song) I think Mr.Nagathihalli has to see his own movies like Baa nalle madhu , America & Amruthdhare - before calling Nooru janmaku as his movie

I agree with shobha. Also, only plus point is cute aindrita. other than that everything else is mediocre or below mediocre. Nagathihalli chandrashekar is very hyped director and the success of few of his movies are just by fluke or may be other factors like music, photography, foreign location and others.
