Actor Prajwal Devaraj, who has been struggling to create a hero image for himself for the past four years, has stumbled once again. His latest movie Nannavanu, which has been directed by Shrinivas Raju, disappoints the audience despite having a unique storyline.
Nannavanu is a romantic thriller movie, which has a mysterious plot that goes on unfolding scene by scene. The movie has all essential commercial elements, but Ilayaraja"s music is the only solace to the audience. Although the director has chosen a good story, he has failed in narrating it. The editing is the biggest drawback of the film. It has comedy, but irrelevant jokes and indecent mannerism mar its beauty.
The movie seems to have inspired by popular TV show Punarjanma. It is a revenge drama, in which a girl, who is murdered in her previous life, decides to avenge it in her present life. He takes the help of a greenhorn lawyer for the same. The narration is damn slow in the first half and bores the audience, but it picks up in the second half and makes the audience tighten their seat belts.
Sanjana (Aindrita Ray), who is a rich NRI girl, approaches greenhorn lawyer Bhardhwaj (Prajwal Devaraj) with a strange case of her murder in her previous life by Chief Minister CC Chandrappa (Avinash), who was an MLA then. She offers him Rs 50 crore to run the case against the CM. Whether the struggling judge wins the case or not will form the climax of the movie.
Prajwal Devaraj fails to impress the viewers with his terrible performance in the first half, but he rocks them with his wonderful acting in the second half. Aindrita is good in her respective role and she has done justice to her role as an NRI girl. Komal Kumar and Avinash have done their best.
Ilayaraja has composed a few good numbers for the film and his music is the big highlight of it. The choreography of a couple of the song is also good. The songs have been shot in Austria, Germany and Europe and K Dattu"s camera work in these songs is commendable.
However, it can be said Nannavanu has an excellent storyline, but poor narration of it will spoil it. At least sensible editing could have saved it. Anyway the movie can be watched once.
