[an error occurred while processing this directive]Producers Ramu and Gangadhar's Kannada movie Mad Love, which has been produced under the banner JKL Production, is a love story of a mad guy. Popular writer Doddarange Gowda"s pupil Teja has directed the movie, which features all newcomers in its cast.
Besides direction, multi –facet Teja has also written the story, screenplay, dialogues and lyrics for the movie. It seems that he has taken lot of responsibility and forgotten to do proper homework and preparation for the movie. The movie is subtitled as 'Teenagers Yearning for Love is This Mad Love". There is old saying that most of the love stories end with the lovers going mad. Although many movies are made on the subject, the director has made unnecessary attempt on showing it again.
Mad love is nothing but old wine in a new bottle. The movie lacks newness in it. The slow paced narration, unnecessary songs and unpleasant sequences hold a test to the patience of the audiences. After the interval the movie glorifies the dead body of the heroine so much so that it becomes a lead character in the second half. The director seems to have tried to exhibit dead body as the symbol of love.
Manu (Ramu) is a rich guy and he is in love with a middle class girl Ramya (Raveena), who is daughter of a school teacher. For his family image, his father ignores his personal interest to marry his lover. So his father threatens Ramya"s family, which leads to her death in the halfway through the film. What happens next will form the climax of the movie.
Debut actors Ramu and Raveena need to learn the basics of acting. Throughout the movie their attention is concentrated on the camera. Their feeling-less faces make the audiences leave the theatre in the half way. However, Doddarange Gowda impresses the audiences as the heroine"s father. As usual, Padmavasanthi and Killer Venkatesh have done justice to their roles.
Mad Love makes the audiences mad.
