Sandalwood's ace producer Soorappa Babu has been attacked by the unknown group in the premises of Karnataka Film Chamber Of Commerce (KFCC) on Thursday (Feb 20). It is reported that the producer was attacked by unknown men, who had taken part in the protest organised by pro-Kannada activists in front of KFCC.
The pro-Kannada activists had staged protest against KFCC by urging them to make their stand clear on the dubbing issue and they were also requesting the members not to approve the resignation of producer Sa Ra Govindu, who had resigned from the secretary post. Following the protest, KFCC president HD Gangaraju had called for the joint meeting of all the members to discuss the issue.
When Soorappa Babu, who is also a member of KFCC came to attend the meeting, the group of unknown men from the crowd rushed towards producer and tried to manhandle him. Producer, who was scared, immediately rushed to KFCC meeting hall and sought the help of members.
KFCC members came to rescue of producer. Though Soorappa Babu could recall the culprits, they could not see the attackers anywhere in the protest mob. It is reported that the culprits escaped from the place after the incident. Following the attack on Soorappa Babu, KFCC members, Karnataka Producers Association, and Karnataka Distributors Association staged a protest and urged the police to identify the culprits and provide security to Babu.
