The actor's earlier movies like Ghajini, Vaaranam Aayiram and Rakta Charitra had done remarkable business in Bangalore. But his 7aam Arivu and Maatrrraan did not fare well and those movies were considered as the average grossers in this part of the country.
However, Surya has ended his decent phase, thereby becoming a star at collection centres in Bangalore. In fact, the film is second best in terms of collections in the present year after Kamal Hassan's Vishwaroopam.

As per the trade reports, Singam 2 has earned more than Rs 1.25 crore in the first few days after its release. A trader says, "The movie is rocking at the Box Office in most of the theatres."
He adds, "Last weekend, Singam 2 ran into packed house in all the plexes. The film is running successfully all over Bangalore in around 20+ screens."
Will It Set a New Benchmark?
"If Singam 2 continues to pull the audience in the same way, it will set a new benchmark at Bangalore Box Office," he concludes.
Earlier this year, Kamal Hassan's controversial Vishwaroopam had created fresh records at Bangalore Box Office. The film had earned more than a crore in just few days after its release. Now, yet another Kollywood film has repeated the same magic.
Star Power of Surya
It is undoubtedly the star power of Surya. But there are many other factors that are working in favour of the movie. Firstly, Singam 2 is a sequel to Singam. So, the initial response will be high and the positive reviews and good word-of mouth are making wonders for the movie.
Singam 2 is an out and out action movie. It has high-octane action sequences, brilliant screen presence of Surya and tight screenplay. But the only drawback, which is believed by his fans, is that the second half is lengthy and it should have been crispier in order to have larger appeal.
