Om is said to be the highest screened movie. In fact, majority of the theatres, which screen Sandalwood movies, have screened the movie. In the last 18 years, it had more, approximately 500 releases.

The movie that redefined action movies in Kannada film industry, was released in 1995. It was a career-changing film for Shivaraj Kumar and Upendra. The movie gave a completely new image for Shivanna and it gave a big break to Uppi as a director. It has earned cult status and won several awards.

Despite being controversial film for the content over violence and for casting the infamous rowdies like Jedarahalli Krishnappa, Bekkina Kannu (Cat Eye) Raajendra, Korangu and Tanveer in the film, the movie not only set a benchmark at the Box Office, but also won critical appreciation.

The interesting part of the story is that the satellite rights of Om, which also starred Prema, and the home video rights have not been sold till date.
