Pushpaka Vimana producer passes away
Producer Shringar Nagaraj of Pushpaka Vimana fame passed away on Tuesday evening (July 16). He breathed his last around 9.20 pm. He was 75.

He had been ailing from old-age related diseases for the past one year. The producer died at Mallige Hospital, Bangalore, on Tuesday. It has to be noted that he passed away on his birthday. He is survived by sons - actor Ramkumar and physically challenged Pranav, and two daughters.

Shringar Nagaraj entered film industry in 1970s and acted in the movies like Bangarada Manusha, Ranganayaki, Sipayi Ramu, Shabdavedi, etc.

The underlining point in his career was making Pushpaka Vimana, the first silent movie. The movie was a silent black comedy film. Singeetham Srinivasa Rao had written and directed the movie. The film is remembered for its inventive re-casting of the silent film form. It is considered as a landmark film in Indian cinema.

He won a National Award, Rajyotsava Award, and Filmfare Award. He was also honoured with President's Gold Medal for the same film.

The multi-faceted personality, who was a very close friend of Dr Rajkumar, was a passionate photographer.
