Pics: Karnataka Bulldozers beats Telugu Warriors to lift CCL 3

Karnataka Bulldozers, which had lost in finals in the last two seasons of Celebrity Cricket League, has broken the jinx, as the team convincingly beat Telugu Warriors at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore, on Sunday (March 10). The Sandalwood team won the match by 26 runs.

The Kannada team won the toss on the slow track and decided to bat first. Sudeep opened the batting along with Pradeep to give a flying start. But the captain's decision went wrong as he lost his wicket after facing four balls. Kiccha was sent to the dugout without scoring runs and that put the Karnataka Bulldozers under pressure.

The next batsman Karthik could not survive long and Telugu Warriors bowler Raghu took his second wicket. With two wickets down, the Karnataka team was struggling with 28 runs. However, D Sharma and Pradeep took the responsibility of bailing out the home team from crisis.

They both together put up 52 runs for the third wicket. Opener Pradeep ended his good innings by scoring 45 runs from 31 balls. He had hit two sixes and four boundaries. However, the Karnataka Bulldozers scored 148 in 20 overs at the loss of five wickets. Continue reading on the slideshow...

D Sharma remained top scorer for Karnataka Bulldozers for his unbeaten 54 runs from 45 balls.

Raghu was the pick of the bowlers for his magnificent spell (4-0-20-2).

The total looked achievable on paper and it was believed that Telugu Warriors could win if they had a good powerplay without losing much wickets.

However, considering the slowness in the pitch and bowler-friendly environment, the score looked defendable. Adding to that Karnataka Bulldozers had the home crowd advantage!

Both the teams came out brimming with confidence and body language of the players from Andhra as well as Karnataka was positive.

The Telugu Warriors appeared like they were in no hurry to score runs and they wanted to save wickets in the first ten overs.

On the other end, Karnataka team did not set an attacking field and it seemed like they want to control the runs.

Telugu Warriors lost its first wicket in the form of Aditya, who scored five runs in nine balls.

Next to go was Prince, who was run out. He too scored five runs but struggled for every run that he scored.

In the first five overs, Telugu Warriors had lost wickets and scored almost same runs as the Karnataka Bulldozers. Hence, both teams did not have edge over each other.

With 21 runs on board and both the openers were out, the responsibility of putting the team to a better situation was on Adarsh and Giri. They tried their best and put up 28 runs for the third wicket.

However, they had taken too much of time to settle down and the required run rate had reached close to 14 runs when the partnership was broken.

The arrival of Teja brought a new ray of hope to Telugu Warriors as the batsman played a fantastic innings.

Teja scored 31 runs of 23 balls. The entertaining part was he hit four sixes and a boundary in his short innings.

With Teja getting out, the only hope was vanished and the Karnataka Bulldozers, in no time, dominated the match.

The Telugu Warriors ended the innings by scoring merely 122 runs in 20 overs. They lost seven wickets.

Karthik and Himmath bowled well even though they could not get much wickets.

After losing back-to-back finals, the Sandalwood team finally lifted the CCL trophy, which was handed over to the team by Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu.

The event was witnessed by many top names from different film industries like Rebel Star V Ambareesh and his wife Sumalatha, Ravichandran, Darshan, producer Munirathna, Rockline Venkatesh, actresses like Pranitha, Madhu Bhattacharya and Aindrita Ray.

Priyamani, Charmy Kaur, Suresh Babu, Vishal Krishna, the captain of Chennai Rhinos, Bollywood actors Ritesh Deshmukh and his wife Genelia, Sohail Khan and many others were also spotted.
