Pradeep Raj, director of Sandalwood's forthcoming untitled movie, which is the remake of Tamil hit Manam Kothi Paravai, has replied for the allegations made by Tamil music director D Imman. Imman has accused the makers of Kannada movie for using his tunes without his knowledge.
Talking to leading daily Pradeep Raj said, "We purchased the rights from Kannada distributor Jaishankar, who bought complete rights for the film from Ezhill, the producer of Manam Kothi Paravai. When we purchase the rights of any film - the story, the screenplay and the tunes of the original film, among others - are bought together. It is the producer's duty to inform the crew of the original film, including the composer that they have sold the remake rights. So we didn't know about the issue, until Imman brought it up.
D Imman expressed his anger against the makers of untitled movie in his micro-blogging site. He tweeted, "Shocked to know about MKP's Kannada remake. They have used my song tracks, mixed voices and audio launched with my name on the CD without my knowledge."
Meanwhile, Pradeep cleared that Kannada music composer Rajesh Ramnath has added local flavour for the original tunes, and they have given credits for both Rajesh and Imman. "Since the issue has come up, I will head to Chennai to meet Imman. We will be sorting out the issue soon," he added.
