Tamil superstar Kamal Hassan has maintained a good rapport with Kannada actors. Recently, in the 100 years of Indian Cinema Celebrations, he also said that he likes to belong to Karnataka, as there are many number of talents have emerged from the state. He was also seen with many Kannada actors in the event.
Ace actress Hema Chaudhary, who was in the event, met the actor, after many years was overwhelmed with his down to earth nature. She said that she was impressed with his simplicity. Hema, who shared screen space with Tamil icon in Manmatha Leela, met him after two decades.
She said, "I went to him and asked if he remembered me. He responded spontaneously and said that I was his heroine in Manmatha Leela and he could not possibly forget me. He is the same old simple, down-to-earth person who is approachable by anyone. He was Nayagan then and now he is Ulaganayagan Kamal Hassan. But his simplicity has not changed."
In 1977, Kamal made his Kannada debut with Kokilla. It was also the directorial venture of his close friend Balu Mahendar and actor Kokilla Mohan. He also shares good rapport with actor Ramesh Aravind, with whom he has acted in the movies like Panchathantra, Manmadhan Ambu and Rama Shama Bhama.
