The Government of Karnataka has established KFA to formulate programmes and policies for the overall development of film industry in Karnataka as well as to build film culture and impart film education among masses. The Academy has mooted the idea of establishing a Digital film library and sought the assistance of BDA. The Authority passed a resolution in its meeting and decided to sanction Rs. One crore subjected to certain conditions.
The conditions include keeping the money in a fixed deposit in a Nationalised Bank and maintaining the library out of interest accrued. It is also suggested to name the Digital Library as “BDA Digital Library of Karnataka Film Academy". The condition also bars using the interest to any other activities of the Academy except maintenance of digital library
BDA, basically dedicated to planning as development of the city of Bangalore, has in recent times extended its functions to preservation of heritage buildings, rejuvenation of lakes and such others. Now by associating with KFA it was extended itself to the field of culture and films. BDA feels that the amount given to KFA is not a contribution but an investment to propagate Film Culture.
BDA also feels proud to associate with academy in its attempt to take films towards masses and also to preserve them to posterity.
