Dr. Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, the wife of late actor Dr. Vishnuvardhan, is upset with producer Dwarakish commercial behaviour over naming his next movie as Vishnuvardhana. She was deeply hurt after reading the reports about the film. Now, she has filed a case against the producer at Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC).
In an interview to a private Kannada news channel, Dr. Bharathi Vishnuvardhan condemned Dwarakish's act of using her hubby's name for some gain. The actress said, "My husband was a great legendry Kannada actor. He has struggled a lot for Kannada film industry and 5 crore people of Karnataka know it."
She added, "Even though Vishnu is not with us, we need to respect his name and should not use it for commercial purpose. I won't let anyone including Dwarakish use his name to earn money because I don't want his name to become a cheap subject. And Dwarakish should drop his idea of naming his film after Vishnu."
Talking about the case against Dwarakish, actress Bharathi said, "Dwarakish has no right to use Vishnu's name. Moreover, there is rule in KFCC that name of a big personality should not be used for movie title. I've filed a case against the producer at KFCC under this act and I hope KFCC will also uphold it."
Earlier, Dwarakish had said that he was a close friend of Vishnu and had lot of love at his heart for him and wanted to pay tribute him by naming his movie as Vishnuvardhana. Condemning his statement Bharathi said, "The whole Karnataka knows how was his relationship with my hubby and how he has ill treated him. There're several incidents to describe it. He will not have face to show to public, if I open up about one particular incident. I say this man doesn't have respect for Vishnu. If he had, he would not have committed this cheap act."
Meanwhile, Basanth Kumar Patil, the president of KFCC, has said the there is a particular committee at KFCC to register movie titles and there is rule that name of a big shots should not be used for title. Now, Dwarakish has applied for the title and we won't allow him to use his name under this act. Moreover, he has been in the film industry for the past 45 years and I hope he will understand the rules of KFCC and follow it."
However, despite the ongoing row over title, the producer is doing the Muhurtha of the film at Abbaya Naidu Studio today. The film features Kicha Sudeep, Malayalam actresses Bhavana and Priyamani. V Kumar is directing the film and V Harikrishna is busy composing music for it.
