Vishnuvardhan laid to rest at Abhiman Studios

Sahasa Simha, Dr Vishnuvardhan, who died of heart attack at Vikram Hospital in Mysore at 2.30 on December 30, 2009, was finally laid to rest at the Abhiman Studios in Bangalore on Wednesday evening. Before this, his body was kept at National College Ground for his fans to pay the tribute to their departed hero from 10.00am to 4.00 pm.


The funeral procession of Dr Vishnuvardhan started from National College Ground at 4.30 pm. Thousands of Vishnu fans descended on the streets to give their grand farewell to the departed soul. Although tight security arrangements were made on the way to Abhiman Studios, the police had to resort to lathi charge on several places when the disappointed fans threw stones and set fire to buses.

The funeral procession reached Abhiman Studios at 7. pm and last funeral rites were held as per Bramhin religion till 8.00 pm. The star's brother Ravi finally lighted the funeral pyre at around 8 pm. Before this, a state honour was given to the departed soul. Police offered three rounds of fire in the air and gun salute during the funeral ceremony. Amidst tight security everything went on smoothly.

Apart from family, friends and fans, Karnataka Chief Miniser BS Yediyurappa and several of his cabinet ministers too were present at the funeral. Vishnu's good friends Ambareesh, Shivaram and Rockline Venkatesh stayed close to the body all through the proceedings. Ambi was even seen helping control the crowd.

Meanwhile, the government has decided to set up a memorial at the Abhiman studios. It has announced a grant of Rs 10 crore to set up the memorial, apart from granting two acres of land towards the same.

we are losed an exceptional actor in kannda,we cant get like that actor in future. i think industry will become poor without his presence.
