Popular Kannada actress Shruthi and director S Mahender's marriage is hitting a rough patch after she applied for divorce of at the city Family Court in Bangalore. They were recently in news for supporting BJP in Loksabha Election campaign. Now the stars, whose 11th marriage anniversary was on 21th of this month, is all set to fight the case in the court.
Shruthi, who is presently the President of the Woman and Child Welfare Board of the Karnataka Government, secretly went in the government car to the family court on double road Bangalore and applied for the divorce. When she was asked to comment on the issue, she declined to reply.
Shruthi and Mahender fell in love and got their intercaste marriage done in the Jagannath Puri temple in 1998. The star couple who had done movie Gattimela and failed at the Box Office, was known for their good relationship for ten years. But the failure of Mahender's political as well as filmy career has lead to the break up of the star couple, say the sources.

According to the actress the financial matter is the reason for the divorce. "Mahendar is not at all interested in their daughter. He expresses his inability to pay her educational expenses," Shruthi said in the court appeal. "He has lost interest in his work, which has lead him to joblessness.
