Finally, actor-turned-director Prakash Raj (Prakash Rai) and his wife Lalitha Kumari's marriage was dissolved on Wednesday after judge B Ramalingam of the family court Chennai, granted them the divorce. The South Indian star couple had filed a joint petition for divorce by mutual consent on Friday.
Earlier the couple's advocates had worked out an out-of-court mutual settlement. After viewing the agreement, judge B Ramalingam had a personal talk with them on Friday and postponed the judgment to November 18. According to the agreement, the National award winner has agreed to pay certain amount of money towards the monthly maintenance of their two daughters.
However, Prakash Raj had married Lalitha Kumari on December 25, 1994. After 15 years, he had filed for divorce and was living separately for about a year. Meanwhile, Lalitha had also filed a petition for reunion and wanted monthly alimony of about Rs. 2 lakh.
