Though a Kannadiga, she could not manage to get any roles after Valmiki and her stint with Tamil cinema has been filled with controversies and rumours. But Lakshmi is on a roll now. Her Kannada film Minchina Ota, where she is paired with Vijaya Raghavendra and Sri Murali, is running successfully; in Malayalam, her film Parunthu with Mammootty has just released. She is currently acting in Dhaam Dhoom (Tamil) opposite Jayam Ravi.
Moreover, she is doing Hey Gujju, a Bollywood project with Himesh Reshammiya. She has already participated in the shooting of two songs for the film and is all praise for Reshammiya. In the film she plays a tomboy character in the first half who later transforms in to a soft spoken girl.
Lakshmi Rai, who took a break from movies for lack of opportunities, gives credit for her comeback to a coffee ad she appeared in. This ad got noticed and she began getting new opportunities.
It seems Lakshmi Rai's bad patch is over and happy days are here again.
