Melbourne (ANI): Australian actor Sam Worthington has been tipped to play the lead role in the latest movie of the Mad Max franchise. The Terminator Salvation star will reportedly share the screen with Charlize Theron in the Mad Max 4: Fury Road.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the project, to be shot in Sydney and Outback New South Wales (NSW), would see tens of millions of dollars pumped into the economy, creating more than 500 jobs, reports News.com.au.

Producer and director George Miller praised NSW for bagging the project, saying it would further put Sydney on the map. He said: "Hollywood has cut its production in half. Big movies like Fury Road and Happy Feet are rare and competitively sought after in all the filmmaking regions of the world.

"The production agreements have been a long time in the making and Premier Rees and his team has worked like Trojans to ensure this substantial investment comes into this country."Not only does it help fuel the local economy but it means many talented people get a chance to practise their craft and lift their skills."

This is Fantastic News! Everyone should have faith in George Miller. He is one of the greatest Australian Director's of all time. George Miller is the father of Mad Max. Sam Worthington would make a great Max or son of Max. Just remember that this film was originally going to shoot oversea's and now shooting on Aussie turf is not only great news our Aussie actors but for our film industry and economy. The turning point for Australian films has finally begun. To go back to Broken Hill and shoot some of the film there will really help the local economy and will give us all a sense of Deja Vu. Yesterday I purchased the book 'Man On Fire' all about the life of Mad Max stuntman Grant Page and today I wake up hearing that 'Fury Road' is a go. Hopefully Page will be involved in the film in some way. Rev those engines, look in your rear vision mirror, a storm is coming and his name is MAD MAX. I say to George Miller, the late Byron Kennedy would be very proud.
