Wanted Review

With non-stop adrenalin pumped into the every frame of the movie, Wanted is an action thriller that combines Matrix's special effects with the blood and gore of any fast paced action flick.

The protagonist of the movie is Wesley Gibson (James McAvoy), a loser in love and life. His girlfriend is sleeping with his best friend and his boss uses every opportunity to humiliate him.

But his life takes a drastic turn when he comes in contact with femme fatale Fox (Angelina Jolie) who introduces him to The Fraternity led by Sloan (Morgan Freeman). Here Wesley learns the biggest secret of his existence- his father was a part of The Fraternity, an organisation of assassins, a group that takes orders from a weaver's loom! Yes you read that right, a weaver's loom. Based on the patterns made by loom, Sloan deciphers a binary code to reveal the names of the prospective victims. The members of the Fraternity believe that eliminating these people will maintain the order in the chaotic world. According to Sloan this practice has been followed for hundreds of years.

When Wesley joins this group he discovers for the first time a sense of control of his life. Sloan gives him not only financial power and confidence, but also a purpose- to take revenge from Cross, the man who killed his father.

To become a part of the Fraternity, Wesley undergoes a hard-core training regime- he is tied to chair and hit repeated (so that he can endure pain), he learns how to use the knives and swords, learns to control his panic attacks (which according to Sloan is a genetic gift passed from father to son, as these panic attacks increase adrenalin in his body and help perform super human stunts!) and most of importantly he learns to alter the path of a bullet, i.e. make a bullet turn a corner to reach its target!

Once he completes his training, he is given his assignments to kill. Though apprehensive at first, Wesley completes the tasks given to him efficiently in the hope that he will cross path with Cross (Thomas Kretschmann) and avenge his father's death. And as fate would have it that day arrives soon. He does meet Cross and succeeds in eliminating him. But Cross' dying words alter his life completely.

What were those words? What impact does that have on Wesley? You have to watch the movie to get answers to these questions.

James McAvoy as Wesley tries his best to portray the loser turned killer. He has his moments in the move. Angelina Jolie as Fox is ruthless and sexy. Morgan Freeman as Sloan is mean and very convincing. Though rest of the cast has not many lines to speak, they all do their jobs well.

Director Timur Bekmambetov has done a great job. This is his debut in English and he has put in his all to give justice to the story. Sadly it is the story line that disappoints. Michael Brandt and Derek Haas have tried adapting the comic book series by Mark Millar and J.G. Jones, but they digress from the original, thus making the movie a mindless action flick.

McAvoy feels great after visiting Uganda

He admits that witnessing the poverty in the African country helped him realise that he had nothing to complain about. Coming from the rough Drumchapel area of Glasgow and being brought up by his maternal grandparents after his parents split when he was just seven years old, left him feeling.....

Jolie sole competition to men in Hollywood

New York (ANI): She might be one of the sexiest and most beautiful women alive, but Angelina Jolie has much more to her - an ability to hold her own in an industry which is dominated by men. According to Timur Bekmambetov, director of Matrixy thriller "Wanted," Jolie commands true respect in Hollywood and there's no other female star who can upstage the actress. He said that on the set of the film, Jolie actually ended up mentoring co-star James McAvoy,.....
