Oprah Winfrey’s presence on OWN channel a mystery

[an error occurred while processing this directive]New York (ANI): Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey is reportedly in talks over whether she will appear in her cable channel, to be launched next year. Winfrey had recently announced that next year would the last for her famous Oprah Winfrey Show as she"s set to start her own cable channel called OWN that will air original shows by her company, Harpo Productions, 24 hours a day.

Discovery is Oprah's corporate partner on the new channel. However, it was unknown whether Oprah herself would do a show for the cable channel - or just appear on promotional spots. "We are working through how much Oprah we will have on the Oprah Winfrey Network," the New York Post quoted Brad Singer, chief financial officer of the Discovery channel, as saying.

He said Discovery was pushing hard for Oprah to commit to being a regular presence on the channel. "She owns half of it. So that's a pretty good incentive to make it work," he said. OWN will replace the Discovery Health channel.
