The Hurt Locker outshines Avatar at BAFTA

American war thriller The Hurt Locker, which has been directed by Kathryn Bigelow, has beaten off James Cameron's 3D film Avatar by winning the Best Film BAFTA Awards 2010. Actor Colin Firth bagged Best Actor Award for his performance in A Single Man while Carey Mulligan walked away with Best Actress for acting in An Education.

The Hurt Locker has won six awards like Best film, Best director, Best Editing, Best Sound, Best Original screenplay, Best Cinematography. Meanwhile, Cameron's Avatar also got two awards such as Best Production Design and Best Visual Effects.
