Brittany Murphy feared dying young

Friday, January 22, 2010, 11:41 [IST]
Actress Brittany Murphy, who died on December 20, 2009, was apparently born with mitral valve prolapse, because of which one of the valves in her heart couldn"t close properly. According to her husband, Simon Monjack, this illness always haunted her.

And while doctors have stated that it is a situation that can be handled and saw no reason for Murphy to worry, Monjack reveals that she had a fear of dying young. Murphy died due to cardiac arrest at the age of 32. However, the cause of her death hasn"t been found out yet.

I was diagnosed with MVP in my early 20's. I am 57. The ONLY precaution I had to take was during dental procedures; I had to take penicillin before and after. Approx 4 yrs ago my dentist said she didn't see any reason to continue any antibiotics before any dental visits....I was also told this is not fatal. So I would really be interested in knowing if this is REALLY something to worry about now.

yes mitral valve prolapse can be dangerous. I would advise you read Dr.Hoffmans book on mitral valve and a few others, there is also a clinic called " the mitral valve prolapse center in birmingham alabama, they have done much research. Britney Murphey should have stayed away from all drugs....do your homework.

Seriously, MVP "haunted" her? I have it. Never "haunted" me. She, like I, probably learned from her dr., that mitral valve prolapse is the term used when the valve does not close properly. It can be caused by many different things. In most cases, it is harmless and patients usually do not know they have the problem. As much as 10% of the population has some minor, insignificant form of mitral valve prolapse, but it does not generally affect their lifestyle.

not true....as I wrote to the other comment you really need to do your homework. This is not always a benign disorder.

Maybe her body was different from yours. It affects people differently. I have it also.Stress can intensify anything. Anything dealing with your heart can be an issue. Everybody's case is different.

So NOW her husban says this is an illness? Wasn't he trying to sue WB for "killing" her because they fired her from a movie? If she already had existing heart issues, how does this even make sense? It is sad that she is gone but this hubby doesn't seem too bright!

You obviously have not researched this subject to any degree. and need to do your homework. Mitral valve prolapse can be serious and incompacitating for many. Do your homework and you might broaden your limited perspective.
