Washington (ANI): American actor Matthew McConaughey and his girlfriend Camila Alves turned to the Bible to find their newborn son's name, calling him Levi Alves McConaughey. McConaughey, whose son was born on July 7 weighing 7 pounds and 4 ounces, wrote on his Web site that "Levi" is another name for the apostle Matthew in the Bible.

"They were, in fact, two names for the same person," Usmagazine quoted him as saying. "This particular ''time'' represents my favourite verse in the book of Matthew in the Bible: ''If thy eye be single, thy whole body will be full of light''," he said. The boy''s middle name, Alves, is after McConaughey''s 24-year-old girlfriend.

"We wanted to incorporate her family name," he explained. "We welcome ''Levi Alves McConaughey'' into this wonderful life and look forward to livin'' it with him. "We are stoked and wowed by this miracle of creation and this gift from God, and so excited for the adventure that will come in raising this child, being a mother and a father, and sheperding him or her through this life," he added in the blog when announcing the pregnancy in January.

The actor, 38, told Entertainment Tonight he''s been receiving parenting advice. "One thing I''ve heard that''s consistent is, ''whatever plans you make, throw them out the window!''" he stated
