Melbourne (ANI): American stand up comedian Ellen DeGeneres has finally tied the knot with her long-term partner Portia de Rossi. The ceremony took place about 4 pm local time in the backyard of their 33.5 million dollars Beverly Hills estate.

"The two looked ecstatic and couldn't keep the smiles off their faces or their eyes off each other," the Daily Telegraph quoted a witness as saying. "Portia looked stunning, like a real fairytale princess," the witness added.

For the wedding, De Rossi, 35, wore a plunging halter-neck that exposed her entire back, with a cream bodice and full skirt to the ground in blush pink. Her hair was swept up off her face. The Geelong-raised actor's gown was reportedly by US designer Zac Posen.

DeGeneres, 50, wore a signature cream shirt, vest and pants combination. About 20 guests were present at the intimate wedding, and after the ceremony was over the couple emerged from a marquee for official photos. The pair kissed and hugged the whole time as the official photographer took their picture.

De Rossi said the couple did not want gifts, and were happy to have tied the knot. "We don't need anything. We've been blessed enough," she said. DeGeneres had announced her plans to wed her long-time girlfriend on her talk show in May, shortly after California's Supreme Court ruled the ban on gay marriages was unconstitutional.

they're happy, why would you want to take that away from them? I think Ellen deserves to have someone like Portia, they're so great together

It is a fact that more gay and lesbian couples stay married than heterosexual partners. For all of you who are saying that this is "unholy" and "ungodly", think of how happy they look together. Now look at a huge amount of divorced familys and think to yourself, "Who is hurting more?"

An ungodly move, based on ungodly principles.

oh for the love of anything! I say, it is hard enough to find someone to love you and stay happy with, marriage is a rough and hard journey, years of heartache and happiness goes into starting a family together, and if you find that person who you can committ to and stay with for the duration and they happen to be of the same sex- go for it! find love and be happy!!!!

Sorry, but women can not marry. Marriage is defined as the union of a man to a women... I have no problem with the committment they have made to each other, but a term should be found - it is not marriage.

I love Ellen, I have been watching her for YEARS. I am very happy for her with all her success that she very much deserves and I think that it is great that she found such a great person to spend her life with. I wish them all the happiness.
