Columbia Pictures set to churn out spooky series Ghostbusters

Ghostbusters
Washington (ANI): Columbia Pictures is set to churn out the latest instalment of its spooky series Ghostbusters, and that too with the original cast of Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson. The studio has already hired "The Office" co-exec producers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky to write the script for the third film of its blockbuster franchise, reports Variety.

However, the studio has not revealed many details on the development, and had in fact been silent on recent rumours of a possibility of another instalment in the series. Ghostbusters was Columbia's highest grossing film ever, until it was beaten by Men in Black and then Spider-Man.

Making a third instalment of the franchise was thwarted in the deal making stage. According to sources, so much gross was pledged to the participants that the studio saw no chances of making any money on a third installment. While no deals will be made with the original cast before the script is ready, but the gross percentage may turn out to be a big issue.
