The Open Road movie centers on the adult son of a baseball legend named Carlton Garrett (Justin Timberlake) who, together with his girlfriend Lucy (Kate Mara), embark on a road trip with his estranged father, Kyle Garrett (Jeff Bridges). The trip is prompted by Carlton's sick mother (Mary Steenburgen), who wants to see his father again.
