John Carter movie starts with the transplantation of John Carter to mars during a Civil War.
He there finds a lush, wildly diverse planet whose inhabitants are 12 foot tall barbarians and being captured by these creatures. He escapes from their prison and meets Dejah Thoris, Princess of Helium who needs a savior.
