T.R. Silambarasan is a Indian tamil film actor, director, lyricst & playback singer. He is the son of actor, director & politician Vijaya T.Rajendar and former actress Usha Rajendar. He is the eldest son in the family, he has younger brother named Kuralarasan and a younger sister Ilakkiya. He began his career as an child artist in films produced by his father.
Career:
His first movie in a lead role is Kadhal Azhivathillai in 2002 which was directed by his father. In 2003, he comes with Alai movie which is an disaster in box office,then Dhum movie which is an telugu remake and Kuthu with divya spandana was a average in boc office. Later, he did Kovil movie with director hari which reached well in C centre and did a very good business.
He reached places for his acting & excellent story narration work in Manmadhan in 2004. Yuvan Shankar Raja composed music for Manmadhan, from there on they both sharing a very good rapport. Once again he shared the screen with Jyothika in Saravana movie after Manmadhan which is an telugu remake. His thotti Jaya was an expected movie in which he did a gangster role with some romance but it failed in box office badly.
He turned as an director for his next movie Vallavan, he took long time to direct it. In mean while there was an controversy with nayantara, they both were in love for few months & they both splits up later in the same year. Vallavan receives some mixed reviews and turned out to be an average grosser.
In 2008, his kaalai movie released and once again he failed to fulfil the audience expectaion. His next movie Silambattam is with sneha and got some good openings & did a above average business in box office. He also gave voice for the dubbing of Slumdog Millionaire in tamil.
In 2009, he started his 25th film Vinnaithandi Varuvaya with gautham menon. It released in feb 2010 and it becomes a biggest blockbuster. Silambarasan has cleared out the image that he is not only an commercial hero but also an good performer. He won many awards for the film. He also did a cameo role in Goa. His next release will be Vaanam which is under production and it will likely to hit the screens on April 2011. He also has Poda Podi which is under production for long time and currently he signed a movie named Vettai Mannan.
