Rosa Arredondo Biography
Birth Name: Rosa Evangelina Arredondo
Rosa comes from a large Dominican Republic family, her parents settled and raised the family in Corona, New York, an area of NYC very influential to musicians and Jazz performers.
Though her age is not a matter of public record, she was born "around the time when New York City was still a "cool and affordable" place for artists."
Rosa is trained, and has worked, as a dancer, singer, actress and model.
She is a graduate of Julia Richman Talent Unlimited High School. Fellow classmates included, actor Kadeem Hardison, singer Lisa Velez, known best as singer "Lisa, Lisa", and photographer Eric Miletic. NBC Newscaster Sue Simmons is also an Alumni of the school.
She attended one year at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY, majoring in Dance, but left after the first year upon receiving a scholarship to Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre School on Broadway.
Rosa started her performing career in musical theatre with an emphasis on dancing. She performed regularly as a dancer and choreographer around Europe, and in Theatre(in both NYC and road companies), and Music Videos. She continued to move into acting and commercial work, with occasional stints as a model.
She prefers to work in NYC, doing independent, or NY-based features or industrials, to remain close to her large extended family. She is also a regular guest star on many NYC based TV shows.
Rosa is also an avid screenplay writer, and is in the starting phase of beginning her own Production Company, partnering on occasion with long-time friend and choreographer, Broadway performer and actress, Lorna Ventura.
