Namitha (Tamil: நமிதா கபூர்; born as Namita Mukesh Vankawala) is an Indian actress, who has appeared in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam & English films.
She was born in Surat, India. Her father is a textile businessman and her mother is a housewife. Her dad ran a Raymonds Showroom. She did her B.A. in MTB Arts College. Namita lives in Chennai now, with 30 over films in her credit, she has over 2500 fan clubs and is doing lots of charity work and has a soft corner for HIV effected kids and often Aids them in Pondecherry Communicable Disease center.
Namitha also sponsored public toilet projects in commercial areas of several states, mainly for ladies. Namitha besides her films has also gained fame in small screen programme Manada Mailada in Kalignar TV.
She started out by participating in the Femina Miss India Contest. She was crowned Miss Surat in 2000 and came fourth in the Miss India contest during the year 2001 along with Trisha Krishnan and Celina Jaitley, who was crowned Miss India Universe.
She has acted in Telugu,Tamil, Kannada, Hindi & Malayalam films. She made her debut in the Telugu film Sontham. Subsequent to that, she became famous after the Tamil film Engal Anna opposite Vijayakanth.
She starred in Tamil Film "Aai" the song "Arjuna Arjuna" along with Sarath Kumar, which ended up as a big hit. This movie dubbed in Hindi as Nayi Baazi. Her screen name for the first two Telugu movies was Bhairavi. She has also appeared in an English film named Maya directed by Eric Manning.
