CHB was an amazing personality and cult in terms of looks and voice but definitely No.2 after MKTB. Thats what precisely happened on the arrest of MKTB on the famous Laxmikanthan Murder case.The young MD: C.R.Subbaraman was all agog-n-thrilled to be having MKTB singing under him for the film: U.Vasavdatta recording and everything was set for the take...when a messenger came urgently to MKTB at the mike for some very urgent call. As soon as MKTB came out of the recording room. he was immdtly arrested and whisked off...followed by a 3-year jail term. HARIDAS?/44 was doing a bumper biz and MKTB was languishing in jail alongwith NSK. The U-V producers sensing the inevitable immdtly signed a replacement hero in CHB for that film....but eventually the film flopped. CHB had a lovely voice- full throated and has rendered a quite good no.of Tamil films. This researcher has a good no.of CHB's original recordings in his library
