His cousin is actress Rati Agnihotri.

Disappointed with his acting career, he turned director with "Dil Ne Jise Apna Kahaa" (2004), which turned into a family affair, as it starred his brother-in-law Salman Khan and his cousin Rati Agnihotri, while his wife Alvira designed Salman's costumes for the film.
