Aditya Narayan Jha (Devanāgarī: आदित्य नारायण झा, born August 6, 1987), commonly known as Aditya Narayan, is an actor, musician, lyricist, singer and television host. He is the only child of Indian playback singer Udit Narayan and Ranjana Jha (Not Deepa narayan). He has been a very successful child artist and singer, acting alongside Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan and singing for Aamir Khan. He began his hosting career at the young age of 19. During his tenure as host for the television show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, it has been hailed as the most watched television program. It is telecast on Zee TV and is telecast in over 176 countries.
As a child, Aditya was first spotted by musical Mastro Kalyanji (Of Kalyanji-Anandji) at his 4th Birthday celebration. He soon started training under Kalyanji and also did concerts called "Little Wonder's" a show where only kids showcased their talent in various forms of art. He went on to perform for more than 300 "Little Wonder's" concerts. He also began his singing career with a song in the film Akele Hum Akele Tum with his father, Udit Narayan His biggest hit as a child artist though, came with the song "Chhota Baccha Jaan Ke" from the film "Masoom" in 1996. It also earned him his first major Film award, the Screen Awards critics Best Child Singer in 1997. As a child, he's song more than 100 songs and also had a super successful self titled album "Aditya" with Polygram Music (now Universal Music) Aditya has sung in more than 16 Indian Languages His acting career as a child began when Aditya was spotted by Producer/Director Subhash Ghai at the 1995 Filmfare award function, as the final performer for the "Little Wonder's" troupe. Ghai then signed him for his forthcoming venture, "Pardes" starring Shah Rukh Khan & Mahima Chaudhary. The film went on to be a huge success, a Golden Jubilee. His second film was "Jab Pyaar Kisi Se Hota Hai" starring Salman Khan and Twinkle Khanna. His role as Kabir Dhanrajgir was a substantial one, almost parallel to the lead actors of the film. The film had a successful Silver Jubilee run. It also earned him a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the 1999 Zee Cine Awards. The following year, Aditya took a break from all his professional work on the account of concentrating on his studies and coping with adoloscence.
As an adult, a young 19 year old Aditya's first professional outing came as anchor for Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007, which went on to be the highest rated show on television in India for 5 months. His first stint as the host of this long running television program since 13 years earned a viewership of billions of people around the world. His second season as anchor was for Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs, a musical reality show encouraging young talent till the age of 13, it was the number one Musical/Reality show on Indian Television. His third season was for Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2009, which, once again, went on to become the highest rated reality show across all channels in India, for its tenure of 7 months. He also had had a mega successful first musical world tour along with Udit Narayan in April/May '08, in the United States Of America, Canada & West Indies.
Currently, Aditya is shooting for his debut film "Shaapit" directed by Vikram Bhatt. This marks his adult debut as Actor/Singer. The film co-stars Shweta Agarwal, Rahul Dev and Shubh and has music by Chirantan Bhatt. Aditya has also written and composed the promotional song for the film. Shaapit releases worldwide 12 February, 2010.
