Aiyyaa Picture Review: Watch out Rani Mukherjee's 'WAKDA' act!

'Aaishapath' Rani Mukherjee has seriously gone 'WAKDA' this time. Naah, she's no longer the typical hottie, playing a sexy glam doll in her movies. Rani makes her comeback with a completely bizarre avatar as a quirky Marathi mulgi Meenakshi Deshpande in her latest movie Aiyyaa. Aiyyaa is a story of a Marathi mulgi, who's a complete movie buff, which portrays her love for a Tamil painter.

Directed by Sachin Kundalkar, the film stars Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, Subodh Bhave, Nirmiti Sawant, Satish Alekar. Aiyyaa solely depends on Rani Mukherjee's shoulders. Rani In Her 'WONDERLAND'

Let us first introduce you all to the beautiful Meenakshi Deshpande, who often slips into her fantasy world. Rani Mukherjee aka Meenakshi's situation is more or less like that of 'ALICE IN WONDERLAND'. Rani is a complete movie buff and a day dreamer in the film.

Meenakshi Aka Rani's Family In Aiyyaa

Meenakshi's family includes some mad characters. A cigarette addict father, an overzealous mother, a dog loving brother and a crazy grandmother - none of the characters seem real. It gives us some dose of 'full too fatak' entertainment, but at times disappoints us with some over the top comical act. Her family desperately wants her to get settled, hence they're desperately looking out for a groom. Unfortunately, they fail to understand Meenakshi's dreams and aspirations.

Meenakshi's parents are in a desperate hunt to find her a suitor, she is forced to undergo a routine procedure day in and day out in front of prospective men and their families.

Rani Is Just 'WOW'

According to me, there are not many things good about Aiyyaa. But, yeh, without any doubt, Rani is certainly the show stealer. The bong bombshell does a great job and single-handedly carries the entire film with dramatic portrayals and amazing dance sequences.

Prithvi's Raw Sex Appeal!

Meet the new handsome hunk of Aiyyaa. It's Prithviraj Sukumaran, who makes his Bollywood debut with this film. He impresses us with chiselled, raw sexuality, but unfortunately, he hardly gets any scope to act in the movie.

What A Sensuous Fragrance?

Rani aka Meenakshi falls head over heels for Surya (Prithviraj), but the latter barely knows of her existence. She breathe sensuously whenever Surya goes.

Aiyya Takes A Serious Turn

The movie takes slight serious turn after Meenakshi's family finally succeeds to get a groom for her. They arrange her engagement with the sweet and simple Madhav Rajadhyaksha (Subodh Bhave), whose idea of romance is stuck in the discreet Farooque Shaikh-Deepti Naval era.

Naughty Naughty Dreamum wakeupum

Meenakshi and Surya goes naughty and erotic in 'Dreamum wakeupum'. The song has a retro feel with mashed up lyrics to give it a southern touch.

Aga Bai, Is That Rani?

Then comes 'Aga bai' in which Rani flaunts her sensuous belly dancing skills. All thanks to music director Amit Trivedi, for some brilliantly loud and flamboyant music infused with typical Marathi folk music with South Indian touch.

What To Do?

After a point, you get bored of Meenakshi stalking Surya throughout the film. The poor mulgi gets stuck in a crazy and tough situation. It gets hard for her to make the right choice between her dream man and her fiance. The key question for our readers lie, "Whom does Meenakshi choose finally?"
