Women's safety everyone's responsibility: Farhan
Actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar, who has started an online campaign "Men against Rape and Discrimination (MARD)", says its not just government's responsibility to create a safer environment for women. He says at an individual level also we should try and bring about a change.

"If we say that it's only the police's job and we only sit at home and play victim and keep watching what is happening, then that's wrong. At an individual level we should try and bring about a change," the 39-year-old said here on Wednesday on the sets of Indian Premier League (IPL) show "Extraaa Innings".

"The responsibility can't just lie on the government servants, as citizens it is our responsibility as well," added the Rock On!! actor, who came to promote MARD on the show.

The director of films like Dil Chahta Hai and Don - The Chase Begins, says such campaigns will continue till things change.

"My demand is same as yours that the society should be safer for everyone - girls, women or small girls. They should never be scared about going out, they should never feel that they are considered less. So these things should change. Till that doesn't happen, we will have to fight this war," said Farhan, a father of two daughters.

He is using IPL as a platform to spread awareness among the people about his campaign MARD and will be distributing fake moustaches, a symbol of his campaign, among the audiences at the April 26 match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab to be played at Eden Gardens.
