Veteran actor Om Puri has been reportedly booked by the police, after his wife Nandita Puri filed a complaint against him, alleging domestic violence. Reportedly, Nandita alleged that Puri had beaten her up with a stick and also threatened her last week, after a heated up argument between the couple.
A police officer reportedly told a leading daily that Om Puri and his wife Nandita fought over their flat maintenance, following which Puri hit her with "a wooden stick in their Versova residence". According to the daily, the actor has been booked under IPC sections 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of the peace).
Nandita is Om Puri's second wife, and as per the reports, the couple's marriage was going through a rough phase. It was reported that Puri had moved out of his flat, after he reconciled with his first wife Seema Kapoor, and started staying with her. The daily further claims that the actor and Nandita had tried their best to save the marriage for the sake of their son Ishaan.
The police further informed the daily, "Om Puri is absconding at present. We will arrest him as soon as we trace him."
